Unseen Warfare

Initiation

No countries or religions enact actions or behaviors, people do.

Awaken to the framing. To how framing is used. To how it configures perception.

Think of warfare. This statement is specific to the psychological level. Also known as 5th Generation Warfare.

It emphasizes a manipulation of perception and belief as an appendage to the kinetic level of warfare.

Are you aware enough to see that it’s happening… or how?

Humans are unfortunately easy to manipulate. This plays deeply into the obscuration of the individual – collective referential dynamic.

This means individual actions are deeply subsumed under broader collective narratives, dissociating recognition of individual roles within group constructs.

If the seriousness of this is difficult to understand, remember, this is 5th Generation Warfare.

Targeting Perceptions and Biases

At this level of warfare, individual perception and the existing cognitive biases of individuals and organizations are targeted, and new cognitive biases are generated.

Information overload, echo chambers, polarization, linguistic manipulation, perceptual hacking, cyber operations, narrative control, moral disengagement, etc., are all part of the process.

The breakdown of effective communication and disruption of understanding are pervasive and deliberate strategies.

For the vast majority of the public, the mechanisms are very difficult or impossible to attribute.

Dichotomy and Discord

The effects are highly visible on social media. There’s a strong dichotomization happening.

It’s a critical element of the overall perception hacking process.

There seems to be two types of people right now, dichotomized, and those who are resistant to and above the polarization.

The stronger the polarity, the stronger the propensity for discord and the diminishment of functional discourse, ultimately suppressing the potential for collective understanding and progress.

Communication and Perception Structures

Many are inclined to ‘pick sides’. Usually in an overgeneralized way.

Emphasis shouldn’t be on a ‘side’, but those actors ‘within the sides’, both, or all sides…

The frame (structure) is more important than the picture (content) when it comes to shaping public perception. This drives collective dialogue and behavior.

How the communications are structured structures perception.

How things happen are reflective of the underlying patterns of interaction and communication.

When these things aren’t taken into consideration, the public in turn is made susceptible to attacking itself, as evidenced on social media, and the many instances of physical conflicts that have been happening around the country.

People have been entering odds with each-other at an increasingly accelerating rate for years now.

And if it continues to progress over the next five to ten years, you never know… we might not be here to talk about it anymore.

And think about this…

Considering the exponentially increasing rate of advancing AI tech, and it’s rapidly advancing warfare capabilities, there’s a lot to unpack with all that’s happening throughout civilization at present, and much of it is visibly disintegrating to the foundation beneath us.
